Welcome to Sullivan High School - Home of the Eagles. If you went to Sullivan then you know that our days were on a block schedule. Each day was symbolized with "black" and "gold". One day we would have English and the other we would have math. Class of 2006! Do you remember looking forward to Wednesday's because those were days we were going to have chicken patties or some sort chicken for lunch!? There's two things we cherished and one being "spirit" week which was my chance to shine for my school to wear black and gold considering that's all I could really participate in. Then you can't forget about how competitive we all were. We loved our sports, we had football to cheer-leading, Valley ball to girls soft ball, basketball, and many others. Who can remember getting out of class just to go visit MRs. Campbell or another teacher we felt a good connection with? I'm sure with all the .50 that I borrowed or didn't borrow from Mrs. Campbell she may be rich today - haha.
Even outside from learning and growing we had great times and we definitely knew how to have fun. Unlike a lot of my friends who had to sneak out I was lucky enough where I pretty much did as I pleased with respect of my parents. Who had to sneak out and meet me at the end of the road? - haha. Staying up playing video games probably wasn't the best thing I could be doing but I am guilty of that, who played Metal Gear Solid or Final Fantasy? We knew how to get alcohol if we needed it from either friends or family considering Sullivan is a small town where everyone could be related. During our colder seasons we'd park our truck to a bon fire, roast some hot dogs, drink a beer, listen to music, and dance the night away..or pass out! Who remembers driving to the Wal*Mart parking lot, lining our cars with our hoods up checking out each others set ups and taking nightly cruises? Our summers were filled with heat and humidity so we quickly headed to the river since we don't have many beaches around. With the hiking and caving we can do and settling down to some drinks, music and a float there's nothing better than the small things.
When that notification to your high school reunion shows up, your first instinct may be to decline the invite. While many people will say that high school was the best time of their lives, this isn’t always true for everyone. Still, there are plenty of reasons why attending your high school reunion is a good idea.
Why you should go
Now I was actually going to ignore my invite to my high school reunion but I decided to go because I felt that I would regret it if i didn't and I am so glad that I did! Here are some great reasons to go to your ten year high school reunion:
9. Social Media Isn't real Social Media: Scrolling through facebook liking a photo or reacting to a video and maybe a message here just isn't the same as seeing them in the person while getting a bite or drink. It may be hard to believe but some people don't have any social media outlets so going might give you a chance to see someone where you both went your separate ways.
