What is a lantern fest?
At The Lantern Fest, thousands of revelers join together armed with lanterns for one unforgettable spectacle. Before sundown friends and families can enjoy food, live music, a stage show, familiar princesses, face painters, s'mores, balloon artists and more. Then, when the time is just right, we will light the sky with our highest hopes and fondest dreams.
What your pass grants you
With your Lantern Pass, you will receive a wristband of fire granting you passage to the event, a lantern to light the night sky, a marker to write your impression, a lighter to ignite the flame to send your lantern to the night sky, and a s'mores kit which will cost $50 at the door.

My Lantern Fest Journey
I have been excited to do this for awhile now but something would always get in the way so I finally got a chance to check this thing out and I'm so happy that I did and I can show you how it went. I cleared my schedule just to go here so I got up early and made a day of it. Around one o'clock in the afternoon I headed to the event to get a head start on things like getting my ticket printed, getting through the gate, finding a place to station myself, exploring the grounds, and taking photos! The gates opened at two in the afternoon so I had plenty of time to explore around and get an idea of where everything was and how things were going to go down.
When you need it, and don't have it... you sing a different tune
The best thing about the Lantern Fest is that it's like one huge bonfire. So if you are like me and from a small rural town then you know the feel that you get with it! It was just that, where it's not too hot or too cold outside where you can have a pair of yoga pants and a giant hoodie to keep you cozy standing in front of a fire. The warmth you get from Hanging with people who cherish you while having a drink. The moment you melt your chocolate bar to your marshmallow and graham cracker and it just melts in your mouth - that feeling! Just remember to bring a blanket or chairs to sit on, of course your hoodie, some extra cash to buy from the vendors and of course snacks and drinks because you can't bring off site consumables, and always bring on your smile game!
A good heads up when you get to the event they do charge $5 per car so be sure to carpool there! Something really cool about Lantern Fest is that they found Enviro-Log® which is consumer products and recycling company. Enviro-Log Firelogs are made of 100 percent recycled materials and burn cleaner than wood while providing 50 percent more heat per pound. Enviro-Log Firestarters offer an alternative to kindling, petroleum-based starter blocks, lighter fluids, and ethanol-based gels. Sky lanterns are undeniably beautiful. However, many local authorities have banned the private use of these lanterns for the same reason they do not allow individuals to light fireworks from their homes. The Lantern Fest provides an opportunity for people to come together and experience this beauty in a safe, controlled space; just as people are allowed to do during professional firework shows on local or national holidays. It's honestly something to experience if you are in the St. Louis area around this time of the year. If you're a local and never have gone then grab your girlfriend or boyfriend, friend, brother and or mom and go! It's a great way to get away from the real world and socialize and experience something magical together. I had so much fun and plan to volunteer next year!
I got front roll parking getting there about an hour early! So, if you can come early, makes things easier even when it's time to leave! After I parked I got all my camera gear and busted out to the line where they scan your ticket, I never did get mine printed so i used the one I got with an email, which I recommend anyhow. The line for me since I got there so early I didn't have to wait long either, maybe a 20 minute wait. Once I passed the ladies who scanned my ticket they send you to get a wristband which grants you access to the festival and always reentry if you need to leave for any reason however if you loose it, there is no way of getting back in. After I was once in I checked out my s'mores kit and checked out the scavenger hunt they had, where we had to get a selfie in front of an owl! There were plenty of other hunts to do but I never got around to getting them completed but I got a lot of gopro film and photos. From 2p to about 6:30p I was alone doing few of the hunts, checking out the vendors, vlogging, and finding a good place to have a fire. While waiting for Ryan I decided to get something to eat at Mojo Truck, L.L.C. and got their BBQ chili and fries and they do a great job at creating yummy master pieces. shortly after I met up with the princess' to get a photo with and can't thank Dream Time Princess Events for their time. After a while Ryan showed up and that's when things got more exciting because now I have someone who will gain the xp with me. We basically went around the area capturing photos and just talking about our futures. After a few hours after the beautiful sunset we had a guest, Alexi Blue! Alexi is in Las Angeles, Ca gearing up to release more original songs in December and with those, she has the opportunity to reach beyond her existing accomplishments to even greater heights. She currently has four original singles available on iTunes and Spotify, with official music videos for each song out on Youtube. After Alexi sung several songs for us we then begun to get our lanterns ready. And, please don't launch your lantern early! Please! Please! Don't do it! I would have been very upset if one person ruined it for us because the release is the best part of the show. It was so beautiful and I am so thankful I have gotten to see such a sight. So, please don't release your lantern early! Ryan and I decided it was best to get going while the going was good! I got my gear and we rolled out. Getting out was very simple and I only waited in line for about 30 minutes and met Ryan at the Quick Trip so we could go scout a salt mine and ended my night at home.
