Abra Kadabra Alakazam
I was super excited to attend another con besides last year when I attended BronyCon which was super fun, don't forget to check out it and keep an eye out for this years! The event has roots in Wizard, a comic-book pricing guide and pop-culture magazine. It's parent company, Wizard World Entertainment, began hosting conventions in the late '90s, and it's cons are now held throughout the world. This is the first year I got to attend one and I have been wanting to for a Wandering Wednesday for the longest time, finally did it! I highly recommend buying your tickets early because you will get this early bird special of 10$ off, otherwise it's 60$ at the gate! Also, a lot of people think it's weird going to a con NOT dress in cosplay but honestly, I find it the total opposite..I find it weird when I see others NOT dressed in costume haha. Speaking of which, if you come in costume you get an additional 5$ off your total! So buy your ticket early and get 10$ off and come in costume for an additional 5$ off with a total of 15$, that's not bad at all really. I only went Saturday because I felt that would have been the most busy day and I don't really see myself spending that much time there. So, come dressed in costume and buying your ticket early also gets you through the line faster, so I would definitely buy in advance so you get through quickly. I was kinda freaking out the day of the con because I couldn't get my ticket printed or anything but there was no worries, just go to your email and open the pdf file and the scanners at the gate will scan the bar code.
You may have caught some caped crusaders and web-slingers in downtown St. Louis last weekend as Wizard World Comic-Con returns to the America's Center. Now the doors opened on Friday at 4 p.m. for the three-day celebration of pop culture and science fiction. I will admit I was a bit hyped to at least be in the same room as Stan Lee but even the flu bug can knock down the best superheroes and villains sometimes. The great Stan Lee, actor Michael Rosenblum and the Hulk himself, Lou Ferrigno, canceled due to the flu. But plenty of other names and faces that science fiction and fantasy fans have come to know and love like John Barrowman from Arrow, James Marsters from the old classic T.V. show Buffy and also appeared in Angel, Nichelle Nichols from Star Trek, and many others! The only bummer thing is I was only here for a few handful of hours so I probably missed out on a lot but from the events the con had going on for example, the Learn to Play Pokemon Workshop with Realbreaking Nate which is a famous YouTuber on how to play the trading card game, Pokemon. It's not something that I'm really into but I'm sure it would be a great opportunity to bond with your child and learn how to play the game together or to finally put all those cards to use after buying them for years on end! With only a few events going on the con I didn't really see any point in really exploring the rest of the con so I stayed around the Market Place where pretty much everyone was. This is where you can find all the famous cosplayers, content creators like cosplay models, photographers, graphic designers and so much many more people where they are selling prints, photos, and much more. As for me, I used this event more so to network with other creators such as myself and I did come across some awesome people who had some great cosplays!
Wandering Wednesday: Charm City
About three years ago if you asked me what a brony is I wouldn't have the slightest clue although I met one and found out about a whole new community based fandom that I had no idea about, it reminded me of my parkour family. A brony is a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic that is outside the target demographic of little girls. Most bronies are from the ages 18-25 and often reaching older. I actually met a retired vet who was 62! Bronies are generally friendly teenagers and young adults who simply aren't afraid to admit they enjoy a show. Click on Runo so she can show you the way to last years BronyCon!
Guys! Something you may not know about me is that I'm not a tobacco user at all and the last time I picked up a cigarette was probably when I was 12! Though The Greatest Shop Ever is a vaporizer store in Saint Peters, Missouri selling many different products from water pipes, incense to my favorite their apparel and merchandise. Started in 2008 in a strip mall office where you have the outside door and then you had two more doors and one was theirs. Now, by any means this place was a great place considering having neighbors they now moved to another and no longer available for photographs or pilgrimage as it has been architecturally changed and now is occupied by a liquor store. Mexico Road was sure an anchor for what they are now, 2017 they moved to another location just blocks away from Mexico on 1125 Cave Springs Blvd, St Peters, MO 63376. As an artists stand point I find glass blowing a crazy cool talent! I mean, I've seen people do crazy things in the parkour world and I have seen some off the wall art but glass blowing which is the craft of making glassware by blowing air through a tube of semimolten glass. It's where they're, or the glassmith or gaffer inflates molten glass into a bubble with the aid of a blowpipe. It's literally like seeing that balloonist make a dragon out of balloons but just picture brosasilicate glass. How do you think these pieces are made, well a gaffer creates these things, and I have seen some bad-ass glass where it was 100K! It's very impressive so buying something like this means a lot to that artist. It's like buying that Mona Lisa. Buying that sculpture. I believe you get the picture..? I love how these guys are super into the community and changing the world through their blog, I recommend a look in there! I feel like these guys fit me so well because of the community that they are in, which I feel would be more "lifestyle" or "urban" mood and that's where most of my style comes from and what you may see in my vlogs and photography, so be sure to book a session with me. If you wanna see how a glass pitcher is made then check out the video below, its super neat!
Big shout out to Rodger even though every associate is a bad-ass there. Soon as I walked in Rodger waved and greeted me in a way that I personally think is awesome, and that's treating me as if I was his friend by being very personable, real, and charismatic and when they say Greatest Shop Ever it’s not an exaggeration, this is the place for anything and everything you could ever want from, more vape mods and juices than any other vape store in the area to cheap wraps, pipes on a budget regardless if you have a budge or not and my all time favorite, their apparel! I recommend picking up a "Black STL Shirt" on your birthday, they give out a free one then! The selection is on point especially considering their new location which is set up very nicely and bigger while the staff is very educated in their field while they attend expos and connected to the community and if you have any questions there is no hesitation for an answer. When you walk in it's chill, relaxed and a fun atmosphere while Rodger and I looked for a piece. I had Rodger with me the whole time and along the way he describes every pipe from where it was made, who made it, and some back history for example, one of the pipes graphics come from a tattooist which is pretty shway! As I got my options open we went to the water pipes which are more higher in price although the one I looked at was super cool and while we checked it out Rodger still had things to say and described to me what a honey comb was, which are highly efficient glass bongs use the surface area of the glass to force smoke through the multiple holes in the honeycomb discs. This process separates and filters the smoke for a cleaner, cooler and more enjoyable hit that wont leave you coughing or that burn feeling in the throat. After hanging out and finally finding something we closed the transaction at 22.62$ with a fist bump and some classic arcade video games, like Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, and Tetris.
